It's even less easy being a teenager's parent...
From dating to driving to drinking to other things that don't begin with a D - you've got to make decisions that will potentially anger the volcanic mix of hormones. I just want to say, "Good Luck, we're all counting on you!".
Being a teenager is one of the most trying times for both of you. The only difference is that you were there once, long ago; for your teenager, it's their first go 'round. Remember what it was like?

What makes it cheating?
There is a website dedicated solely to infidelity; surviving it, coping with it, identifying it, and tools to prevent it. Studies show that even 'happy' couples can fall prey to affairs. There's also a form of cheating known as financial infidelity. Interestingly enough, economics is one of the reasons given for South Florida couples choosing to stay together.
There are two high-profile celebrity divorces in the news right now, both the breakups blamed on unfaithfulness.
Has modern technology changed the definition of what it means to be faithful? For instance, chat rooms - is it cheating to have chats with the opposite sex? How about viewing erotic websites without your spouse?
We want to know what you think - you can post a comment here, or call (800-469-1015) tomorrow morning so we can discuss!
In the August issue of Cosmo, there's an article titled 'Why Guys Cheat in the Summer'. Sure, girls do it to, but according to the study, guys are more prone to cheat in the summer because guys are more likely to stray in general. Some of the reasons: Lots of guys associate summer with adventure and the usual rules don't apply. People are more social in the summer, so more friendly flirting and less clothing leads to increased chances for an affair.

Keep diary, lose weight
An extensive study shows that if you record everything that goes in your mouth, you can lose double the weight. It's a guilt thing... if you have to write down "ate entire bag of lime flavored tostitos", you may opt to go for the apple instead...

Inexpensive Wedding Gifts
Everybody's trying to cut corners, pinch pennies, not spend lots of money. So, what happens when a good friend or colleague is about to wed? They're close enough that you can't get away with no gift, but far enough that you don't want to drop a load of money that you can't really afford. What to do? Get creative! When you care enough, but want to spend the very least, you go cheap-chic.

They call it puppy love
People love their dogs, it's true! We were just wondering how you feel about dogs in restaurants? Dogs at sidewalk cafes? How about dogs in malls, department or grocery stores? Let me know by posting a comment.
We know you're a dog loving community due to 2,000 of you lining up last week for the chance to adopt 130 dogs that were rescued from a puppy mill in Tennessee.
We do know more offices are embracing a Take-Your-Dog-To-Work Day, which was June 20th.
If you travel a lot with your dog, or would like to, there are many products to enhance the experience for your pup. There are also hotels that not only embrace your pup, they provide gourmet dog food! Fifteen dollar grilled chicken paillard with liver snaps, anyone?
Even if you're staying at home, there are lots of places you can bring your dog, not the least of which, off-leash dog parks.
In Miami-Dade:
Dog Chow Dog Park -2400 S Bayshore Drive Coconut Grove
Bark Park -401 E. 65th Street Hialeah
Amelia Earhart Park Bark Park -401 East 65th Street Miami
Flamingo Bark Park -13th Street and Michigan Avenue Miami Beach
In Broward & West Palm Beach:
Boca Raton Dog Park -751 Banyan Trail Boca Raton
Sportsplex Dog Park -2575 Sportsplex Drive Coral Springs
Lake Ida Dog Park -2929 Lake Ida Road Delray Beach
Bark Park At Snyder Park -3299 S.W. 4th Avenue Fort Lauderdale
Poinciana Dog Park -1301 S 21st Avenue Hollywood
Pembroke Pines Dog Park -9751 Johnson Street Pembroke Pines
Happy Tails Dog Park at Seminole Park -6600 SW 16th Street Plantation
Barkham at Markham Park -16001 W H 84 Sunrise
Dog Park -2975 Greenbriar Blvd Wellington
Pooch Park -7715 Forest Hill Blvd/H 882 West Palm Beach
How do you feel about chaining a dog outside? A doberman, who's chain had to be surgically removed from her neck, was rescued from a Southwest Ranches home and is the poster dog for the Human Society's "Break the Chain" campaign.
There's even a major motion picture due out, filmed right here in South Florida, about a man and his best friend. Marly & Me is based on the best selling book by former Sun-Sentinel columnist John Grogan. You'll be able to heel the love on Christmas Day.
Since we're in the dreaded Hurricane season (go away Bertha), it's always wise to have a plan for your dog, should you need to evacuate. There are pet friendly shelters in Miami-Dade and Broward, but usually, you need to be registered in advance.
Those are the dogged facts - I hope we've shed some light on dog lovers.

Making Ends Meet
Forget about saving, just trying to pay bills has become a challenge. The Sun-Sentinel ran a story today about how some South Florida families have managed to manage their finances so well, they don't have to be in panic mode. Two of the biggest things I noticed with each of the stories were the families living within their means, and the biggie... no credit card debt!
One way people are saving is by clipping coupons. There are pros and cons to this; if you buy a bunch of stuff you weren't planning to buy simply because you have a coupon, it defeats the purpose. If you can find the item you need on sale, and you have a coupon, YAHTZEE!!
Also huge right now, saving gas! Easier said than done in South Florida, but you can do things proven to eek every mile outta your tank. A new survey has Miami as the 3rd worst commute and still number one in aggressive driving!
Good luck and if you have other ways to save, please share with us by posting it!

Inexpensive Summer Deals
I guess inexpensive is a relative term, but I wanted to throw some information your way that could keep you (and the kids) from going stir crazy this summer. With gas and grocery prices climbing hourly, it's not as easy to afford outings. A few ideas:
The Day-At-The-Beach Deal! This is such a cool idea - an oceanfront suite at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort is yours all yours from 8a-6p. Plus, you have access to the ocean, the pool and the lazy river. Throw in some free ice cream and it's a great deal! It's $99 for up to six people; a place for naps, snacks, and showers before you head home and no sand in the car, priceless.
For couples looking to getaway close to home on the cheap, how about a local Bed & Breakfast?
What? You didn't know we had B&B's in South Florida? We do.
MOMSmiami is a site specifically for South Florida parents. They have a survival guide for summer; a very large list of indoor and outdoor activities for you and the kids. They even have a Summer Fun Pass - it's a coupon that gets moms in free with 2 paid admissions to five South Florida attractions.
There's always the picnic at the park! Whether it be in Miami-Dade, Broward, or a new park experience, admission is cheap, the food is made at home, and there's quality time with the family!
