Hot Spring, South Florida
Thursday, March 20th is the 1st day of spring, thought it already feels like summer. In fact, this was the 2nd warmest winter in South Florida; the 1st was in 1932! Spring will most likely be even warmer... So if April showers bring May flowers, do hot springs bring molten summers?
All Fore the Blue Monster
Tiger Woods is in town to defend his title at the CA Championships at Doral. Last weekend, I remember glancing at the Arnold Palmer Invitational stats and seeing Tiger pretty far down on the scoreboard; next thing I know, he's won the darn thing!!
I also recently told a friend that, during a golf tournament, they move the holes daily, so that each round is challenging. She wouldn't believe me initially, but 'tis true... they do. Heck, I only found that out a couple of years ago, myself. Did you know that?

Tax Rebate explained
You've probably received a letter from the IRS letting you know about your upcoming tax rebate. You can figure out how much you'll receive based on your salary and how many children you have. You can figure out when you'll receive your rebate based on the last two digits of your Social Security number. You'll have to figure out how to spend the money all on your own!
Lionel Richie performs
March 30th, the Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach hosts the Concert for AutismSpeaks featuring Lionel Richie. Tom Brokaw will be the emcee for the concert, which is the finale to a week of fundraising in South Florida. There's also a live telethon scheduled for Saturday, March 29th.

Baggy pants wearing thin

Okay, this whole baggy pants thing has me perplexed. Places like Opa Locka and Atlanta have banned wearing sagging pants in public. BANNED! Meaning city lawmakers have sat around discussing a fashion(?) fad/trend and decided to try and eradicate it.
Now the state lawmakers are involved, with a bill that will punish students who wear saggy, baggy pants and expose their "back ends or sexual organs". And by expose, the lawmakers are not necessarily talking about the showing of flesh - the lawmakers are referring to the underwear showing. So it's exposure of (usually) boxer shorts, or another layer of clothing.
I can certainly understand a school's dress code, or a place of business banning certain attire but, I don't understand how this has reached the place of bills, laws, and punishment, oh my!Do I find this fashion appealing? No, not really. Am I impressed by (usually) his ability to walk with his belted pants mid-thigh? Yes, yes I am.
What am I missing in as far as laws being needed? Do bad fashion choices as a youth really lead to indolent adults?
Billy Joel's winter home is here
Billy Joel and wife Katie Lee use Miami Beach as a backdrop for their winter.
On July 8th, Billy will release a deluxe, remastered, 30th anniversary edition of his 1977 album, The Stranger. The deluxe edition will feature a 48-page booklet and 4-discs; the original album remastered; a previously unreleased concert at New York's Carnegie Hall from June, 1977; another live show from The Stranger tour; and a bonus DVD of the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test, and two live promotional videos.
Billy will have the honor of being the last musical artist to perform at Shea Stadium, July 16th and 18th. The New York Mets are moving to the new Citi Stadium for the 2009 baseball season.
The "Last Play At Shea" will make Billy the only artist to have performed at both Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium; it's also the first in-season concert since 1992.
