    Farewell Orange Bowl

Driving across 836, it's a vision of all things Miami & football... and it will soon be gone. You can own a piece of football history - an auction of Orange Bowl items on the block on February 9th. Items include lockers, turnstiles, trees?, signage, ticket booths, and urinals? Um, no thanks.
Sooner, a Farewell to the Orange Bowl flag football game between Dolphin and Hurricane players scheduled for January 26th. Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Mark Duper, Steve Walsh, Howard Schnellenberger, and Don Shula will partake in the goodbye! Orange Bowl memorabilia will be available throughout the day at the farewell game.

Animal attraction - it's only Fair

The South Florida Fair begins Friday, January 18th and runs through Sunday, February 3rd.
Concert performers include: American Idol finalists Kimberley Locke and Josh Gracin, Night Ranger, Saliva with Drowning Pool, Jars of Clay, and Grand Funk Railroad.
There's also some new animal attractions - Live Shark Encounter, whereby a person who is NOT me feeds the sharks and gives you some education on the predator. Doggies of the Wild West proves that this town isn't big enough for the 4-legged of us. You can also get a close up look at lions and tigers and eagles, oh my!

    Slow the H2O this Tuesday

With Lake Okeechobee 4 feet below its historical average this time of year, the SFWMD has tightened restrictions on our water usage. The new, one-day-a-week watering schedule goes into effect Tuesday, January 15th. It's as follows and I quote:

Odd street addresses may water lawns Mondays from 4 to 8 a.m. or 4 to 8 p.m.

Even street addresses may water lawns Thursdays from 4 to 8 a.m. or 4 to 8 p.m.

Hand-watering with a hose and shutoff nozzle is allowed for 10 minutes on any day to save stresses or dying plants.

No restrictions on boat or car washing.

Additional watering days allowed for new lawns and plantings for up to 60 days.

    Nundies of your business

Hate panty lines? Hate thongs more? There's a company that knows about your feelings and has come up with a product they call Nundies - a disposable tulip-shaped sticker made of a nylon-Lycra blend. A few South Florida shops carry Nundies should you want to go, Commando!

    Valentine's Day goes green

Green with ribaldry, that is! M&M's has brought out the green for Valentine's Day with bags of green-only M&M's! The packages tout the "new color of love" and are cutely capitalizing on the urban legend that green M&M's are an aphrodisiac.

Or, you could go old-school and grab some Necco's. New phrases include Melt My Heart and Cloud Nine... aw, ain't love grand?
