With the new laws and rules in effect, passports are taking longer to process. Even if you pay for expedited service, you'll wait longer than usual. By years' end, the State Department plans to have things back to normal. Until then, you can actually check to find out how long you'll have to wait to renew your passport.

Every evening, from March through November, 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats come flying out from under a bridge in Austin, Texas. So what does Austin do? Have an annual Batfest, of course.
