    Dyeing for eggs?

Planning on hooking up with some Paas and white vinegar in the coming weeks? Sounds eggciting to me! Omne vivum ex ovo! Did you know that there are many different types of dyed eggs? I mean there are names and descriptions... who knew!

One of my favorite candies of all time is the Reese's Egg - why it's different/better than a regular Reese's cup, or even the Reese's Tree I don't know, but it is. There's now the added comestible delight of the Reester Bunny!
What do you call ten rabbits marching backwards?
    A receding hareline!

    Panthers' fans, stop here

As of this blogging, the Panthers have won FIVE in a row! If you, like me, are addicted to our Cats, you have a unique opportunity.
How would you like to be the one to drop the ceremonial puck for the last home game of the season? You wanna think about it? The BankAtlantic Center is giving one lucky winner the honor of droppin' the puck, and four lower-level seats! The contest begins tomorrow (14th) and ends March 24th. You must be 18 or older to enter.
Here we go Panthers, here we go (clap, clap)!!

You can be in the movies

If you've not yet heard, a movie has begun shooting in our neck of the woods. Marley and Me is a film based on John Grogan's New York Times best selling book. Mr. Grogan was a Sun-Sentinel columnist when Marley came into his life, therefore, the story started here in South Florida.
While Marley is a dog, the film stars a few people hardly fitting that description - Jennifer Aniston , Owen Wilson & Eric "McSteamy" Dane - and yep, they're already in town. The film could also feature you! About 1500 extras will be needed over the next 9 weeks, with shoots in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. All ages and ethnicities will be needed as extras, so send your recent, full-length photo, height, contact numbers and e-mail, make, model and year of your car to:

    It's another party weekend

What do you get when you cross Paella with Shepherd's Pie?

A celebratory weekend in South Florida!

It's 20 blocks of PARTY - the 30th Anniversary of Calle Ocho is this Sunday (16th). It is there, on 8th Street, that the attempt will be made to set a new Guinness World Record for "most people playing dominos". Buena Suerte!

    And speaking of Guinness...
Officially Monday, many a 'Slainte!' will be heard throughout the weekend in honor of St. Patty's Day. Erin Go Bragh!!

No matter your plans, know that you can utilize the FREE "Tow to Go" program if you've celebrated a bit too much.

    Those weren't the days

One of my good friends sent me this and I thought you might enjoy... If you want to add any bits, feel free.

If you're over thirty, you can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.
They've got it so easy! Compared to our childhood, they live in Utopia!
Kids today don't know how good they've got it!

When we were kids we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter ..with a pen! Then we had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! If we wanted to steal music, we had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it ourselves; or wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ's usually talked over the beginning !

We didn't have fancy features like Call Waiting! If we were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! We didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either!
When the phone rang, we had no idea who it was! It could be our school, our mom, our boss, a collections agent, we just didn't know!!! We had to pick it up and take our chances!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600 - with games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Our guy was a little square! We actually had to use our imagination! There were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! Oh, and we could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until we died! Just like LIFE!

When we went to the movie theater, there was no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or someone with a big hat sat in front of us, we'd have to move or not be able to see the movie.

Sure, there was cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! We had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! Channel surfing was walking over to the TV to change the channel. There was no Cartoon Network either; we could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons!

We didn't have microwaves, so if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove. For instance, if we wanted popcorn we had to use JiffyPop, shaking it over the stove forever like an idiot.

You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1978!

    Regards,

    The OVER 30 Crowd
