    Mermaids vs. Manatees

The Florida Marlins home opener is Monday against the New York Mets, at 4:10 p.m, Dolphin Stadium. Let that also be a LITE FM Stress Saver Traffic tip for you!
What I was wondering was... Why do the male spectators get Marlins Mermaids, and we ladies get Marlins Manatees?
I mean no disrespect to those who tried out, or officially became Manatees, but when do we get hot, half-naked men dancing for our pleasure at sporting events? Or, at the very least, more bathrooms...
    Go Marlins!

    Let them eat cupcakes

Okay, I'll admit it... I LOVE cake, love it! Cupcakes are like a cake spinoff, and can be equally as fulfilling. Two of the most famous-talked-about-cupcake-places are on a heavily populated island, and shall remain nameless; mainly because I found the cupcakes to be quite dry (my mom always said if you can't say something nice...).
So when I hear about delectable, moist cupcakes, me ears perk up. An article in the Herald had a favorable review on Misha's Cupcakes. The cupcakes are described as having a "rich flavor and melt-in-your-mouth moistness" I'm in!!! I'll be at Kendall Kia on Sunday, and you can be assured I'll be dropping by that Dadeland Mall "Lix by Misha" kiosk (it's by the Coach store) to try some.
Have you had Misha's Cupcakes? How about any of the others listed in the article? Let me know!
UPDATE: I went, I ate, I enjoyed! Very moist, indeed. I love the mini-cupcakes for that guilt-free sweet fix! My favorite was the cookies'n'cream cupcake... what's yours?

    Too bizarre to make up

A pregnant man? Didn't Arnold Schwarzenegger play that role in a movie?

Truth is stranger than a movie, Junior! Thomas Beatie is 5-months pregnant with a baby girl. Once you read the article, you'll realize how this is possible.

    WOW.
This just in... Mr. Beatie and his wife will appear on Thursday's Oprah (April 3rd).

    Super easy ways to give

The Journal Science reports that those who give are happier. Here are some super duper easy ways to give - to others and the environment:

Through May 10th, Aveda will accept plastic caps from bottles of water, facial cleansers, laundry detergent, etc. Since you usually recycle the container and toss the cap, these caps end up in landfills, or worse, the ocean. That's where they can end up in the mouths of babes - as in baby sea animals, causing them to choke or die of malnutrition from a belly full of plastic. Bring in 25 or more caps and you'll receive a free sample from Aveda's hair or body-care lines (limit one per person - remember, you're giving to be happy!)

Advance your vocabulary and help feed a third-world country. The FreeRice site gives you a word and a few choices for the definitions. For each correct click you make, 20 grains of rice are donated to a place in need.

LITE FM artist Michael Bolton and fiance Nicollette Sheridan teamed with London Fog for a sexy ad, and to support the Hole In The Wall Gang Camp. It's a place in Connecticut where kids with life-threatening illnesses can find some fun and camaraderie. There's a Wish List for the Camp's general needs so it's super easy to find something on the list and send it out.

    Fair opens in clean Miami

Miami, as in Miami, Florida is this country's cleanest city. This according to Forbes, is based on air quality, drinking water quality, garbage disposal, recycling, and cleanup of toxic sites. Good thing they did the study after Calle Ocho and before the Fair... and I mean that in the nicest of ways!

Okay, let me be fair about this:
The 57th annual Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition begins Thursday, March 27th and runs through April 13th. Be there!
Since more than 600,000 people are expected to be there, the Florida Dept. of Transportation and Miami-Dade Expressway suggest you call the free 511 Traffic Information Service. 511, in turn, gives you real-time traffic information and is accessible by cell, landline, and online.
You can also customize your every day traffic routes - that way, when you call 511, you'll automatically get updates on the roads you're traveling.
