Are you a cancer survivor, or do you someone who is? The Wellness Community - Greater Miami has teamed up with the Lance Armstrong Foundation to host Live Well! Life After Cancer - a free, six week workshop to help cancer survivors. The program begins January 15th and runs every Tuesday evening thereafter until February 19th. Each week will cover a different survivor-related topic; from exercise, to stress management, to post-treatment life. THE LANCE ARMSTRONG FOUNDATION AND THE WELLNESS COMMUNITY TO HOST FREE CANCER WORKSHOP
Miami, FL.- The Lance Armstrong Foundation and The Wellness Community – Greater Miami will host Live Well! Life After Cancer, a free six week workshop to help cancer survivors, every Tuesday beginning January15th to February 19th 2008 , at The Wellness Community from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Live Well! is designed to help cancer survivors make the transition from active treatment to life after treatment ends. Miami is one of only 10 cities nationwide that offer Live Well!
“This is the first programs that help patients make the transition, now that cancer survival rates are higher that ever all these survivors need tools to make the transition from being a patient to life after cancer” said Peggy Rios, Program Director about the impact of the program.
During the six-weeks each Tuesday will be dedicated to a different topic. Physicians, nutritionists and fitness experts will discuss individually tailored exercise programs, relaxation training, stress management, and nutrition tips. The program is also geared towards answering any questions about cancer survivorship after treatment ends.
The program is free and open to all cancer survivors in the Miami-Dade area. The number of participants is very limited. To ensure participation R.S.V.P as soon as possible by calling Dr. Peggy Rios at 305-668-5900.
